Description

The tower is a ruinous structure as described in the SMR. Blocks of dressed sandstone were visible at the base of the cliff immediately below the tower which indicate that active erosion is taking place. 30 March 2014: The internal walls are completely submerged beneath a dense covering of ivy. The only visible stonework is at the wall bases. The tide was too high to look for fallen sandstone blocks on the shoreline below but viewed from the NW the external walls are also totally shrouded in ivy with only the exposed face of an external buttress visible at the W end.

The structure was measured in 1927 for the SMR but would merit a more detailed survey. This is not possible at present because of the dense vegetation cover and great care would have to be taken because of its hazardous situation. Reassign priority 2
